A few words from your Ministry Team:
This Sunday we celebrate Harvest. A designated time in the Christian calendar to give thanks to God for all that he has blessed us with in his Created world and more specifically his provision made for us. Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthian Church encourages generosity. To give ‘what you have decided in your heart to give.’ Reminding them – and us – to do so willingly, cheerfully because this attitude is pleasing to God. What we give helps others and in turn reflects our thanks to God for what we have. And what we have, what we are, is by God’s grace, something Paul advocates as ‘an indescribable gift.’ May we all appreciate and give thanks for God’s generous gift of outpoured grace not just at Harvest but all year round.

Our Pastoral Care Team continue to work quietly in the background and is ready to provide a listening ear, a home or hospital visit, or home communion. Ring team leader Daphne on 01249 653212.
In our prayers we pray for those who are ill, including Bev Webb, Diana Bishop, Rita Davies, Teresa Triggs, Barbara Sheppard, Tulie Zsolnay, Jane, Gill H and Nancy Harmer.
Pat’s funeral A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the thanksgiving service for Pat run so smoothly and efficiently. I had several compliments from her friends and I know her family felt fully supported and loved. Over £500 has been raised for the requested charities. Vivienne.
Other charity support Thank you very much for your kind donations last Sunday that raised £47.45 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity holds the yearly Macmillan Coffee Morning event which in previous years had been organised at St. Peter’s by Pat. A further £26.22 has come from the Wednesday Coffee partakers. Thank you all.
Our SAFE SPACE CAFE will continue from 0815-0915 and 1430-1530 each Wednesday of term time. A chance to have a coffee and chat with our local community and build relationships and connections. Servers, washer uppers, cake (finger buffet style with ingredient list) makers, praying folk (in person in church on the day or at home), welcomers, as well as supporters with donations are all welcome. As is your presence to just be there and see how God will enable this ministry. Contact Simon or Lynne.
Prayer, Song, Silence and Scripture As well as our new Cafe activity seeking to build connections with the school and local community, we desire to deepen our own spirituality through prayer, song, silence, and reading scripture. We engage in this way each Sunday morning at 9am AND on a 4th Sunday of the month at 6pm in the evening. Do join us. All are welcome.
HARVEST SERVICE today Sunday 4th October is followed by a fellowship lunch. Harvest Gifts brought to the Church Service (Sunday and the following Wednesday) will be donated to FoodBox. Gill Perkins and Stacy are overseeing the organisation of the fellowship lunch; please see either of them if you would like to contribute in some way. Thank you.
St. Andrew’s will be holding their Autumn Fair between 10am and 2pm on Sat 10th Oct
St. Peter’s Autumn Fair The Autumn Fair is fast approaching and will run from 11am to 1pm on Saturday 17 Oct. You will have seen the flyer handed out recently – still some at the back of the church if you haven’t. If you could make jam/chutneys for the craft store it would be appreciated. If you have items to donate for the fair stalls, please put them in the designated boxes in the vestry. Many thanks, Vivienne will be co-ordinating all aspects, but obviously will need dedicated organisers for each of the stalls. A poster is in Church as a spur to all to support this important fund raiser.
Bubble Church – The Mission Area is launching a new service aimed at those with young children – and we need team to make this happen! Bubble Church is a fun-filled, puppet-packed, half hour service, and so we would love people for up-front leading, hospitality, welcome, puppet handling, and set-up/down. No experience is required, as we will attend a training day together on Saturday 17th October. If you would like to be involved or have any questions then please contact Lucy ASAP (lucybridgewood97@gmail.com).
The Mission Area has started to produce a monthly(?) newsletter by Lucy. It contains information on all local Mission Area events, and has contact data and information. A copy is at the back of the Church
